For once a perfect rest week!

Apart from the training being rather uneventful, the reasons I didn’t get to write last week were lots of overtime at work and the tax return deadline at the end of October! I left it really late. October came around way too quickly this year. Every other year I had it done and dusted in the first week of July. But since I didn’t expect a return this year I procrastinated.

Now I’m free to blog again.

So first of all thank you for all your comments regarding my wheel dilemma for Bright. I haven’t made a decision on that, yet.

Secondly, the IT guys at work have not been able to find my Powertap data. It’s gone for good.

I joined the Tuesday bunch for some fast pace line training, hit the gym with John Tuesday night and riverlooped (yes, I know that this is not a word) with friends and chats and coffee on Wednesday, in short, after I was still really pumped early in the week, the air went out by mid-week and I got really stressed. Well, I guess we all have those weeks and sometimes it just sucks being a woman. Then the headache hit and I decided to cancel a couple of rides that I had lined up and Mark sent out a text message asking if someone had sighted me on the bike since I was gone missing in action. At least I timed it perfectly, having this happen during a recovery week. I wouldn’t have coped with the additional pressure of having to train.

Finally this afternoon I managed to tie up a short and fun ride with John and Nikki and the legs felt good.

The head has cleared up, too, after lots of sleep and rest and socialising with friends. There is a risk of overtraining getting back into hard climbing repeats next week so fingers crossed I can step it up one more notch.

Only five weeks to Bright and Alberto has been in my ear that all my training is strength work and low cadence stuff and while this is good, he reminded me that I need to get some speed work going soon. He is also right with his comment to focus getting some races under my belt before the tour. He suggested the 120 km Rainbow Ride from Byron Bay to Currumbin next Sunday and volunteered to be my support car. I signed up before he could change his mind!
